An abundance of sites protected under the nature conservation schemes represents one of the greatest assets of Gorski kotar. Scattered among the 49 inhabited places is a number of protected locations, all with great tourist potentials. They place Delnice very high among the tourist destinations in Croatia. As the preserved nature is the basis on which to build a unique tourist product of Gorski kotar, the conservation of nature in its genuine form is the main precondition for the development of tourism.
